Change of Atmosphere
Hundreds of square meters of textiles soften the façade, making the wind visible and audible. A performance in which climbers untie the meters-long fabrics on the façade, creating space for a choir singing to the people on the city square from the balconies. Colored light changing the environment of the river Amstel.

CultuurNatuur
To what extent is nature still nature? Everyone knows by now that almost everything in our built environment has been carefully considered and that much of nature has been cultivated. You could argue that public space is always semi-public, and nature in the built environment semi-natural. A waterballet on the Parc lake, an Odyssey theatre tour on an open train, along art works as stages for actors and performers.

Building Scenes
Temporary structures housing temporary performances by theater makers, dancers and musicians stimulated social cohesion and sparked discussion about the quality of public space. Building Scenes, Rotterdam (1996), showcased the possibilities of a more open environment in the Museumpark.

Verbindingen / Connections
How does cultural space connect residential areas? What are the possibilities for using that space? How can the cultural identity of the space be strengthened and optimized? By performances, workshops and a symposium, the use of public space in the Zuidas district was explored. “Connections” is primarily a project that has fostered insights and connections among a large and diverse group of users of public space in the office district of Amsterdam.

OASE
In 2012, the municipality of Amsterdam launched a competition for a temporary building in the Zuidas, the office district along Amsterdam’s ring road. The winning design was OASE, an urban camping at a six level open green building. Not an environment to expect tourists relaxing from a museum visit in the city.

YCity
A plan for flooding public play areas, Amsterdam IJburg, 1999. Movable public space was still unknown in the last century, and even now, new urban development areas lack the public amenities required for growing up youth. What are the possibilities?
