Flooding 2029
Be prepared be attentive be aware or be not to
Location: To be decided
Date / Period: September 2029
Disciplines: Art, theatre, dance, poetry on water
Water, drought and flooding, waterworks, water ballet, water art. The importance, power and possibilities of water in our built environment. Water levels rising. The implications for the built environment mapped out, the consequences for city and countryside. Perhaps even greater challenges lie ahead for art and culture. “Flooding” maps and visualizes them.
The experiences of YCity – public play space on the water – Amsterdam 1999 –, “Waves,” the water ballet by Weijke Koopmans – CultuurNatuur 2004 – and the study in the Maldives – TU Delft 2018 – are the starting point for this project.
This project shows the cultural impact of raising water levels and explores the new artistic expressions.
