You are invited to participate in the project by making a panel, a canvas, quilt or flag and visualize your culture. You don’t have to be an artist and may choose to create a panel individually or together with your friends or colleagues. That choice, like virtually everything else involved in making your panel, is completely up to you.
The Importance of Europe
Europe is becoming increasingly important. A large part of our legislation is now determined at the European level. As the direct representative of the people in the European Union, the European Parliament plays a decisive role. Since the Treaty of Lisbon entered into force in 2009, the legislative powers of the European Parliament have been significantly expanded.
A huge patchwork of works, assembling 720 cultural groups and skills exhibit the image of current Europe. 720 prints – symbolizing the number of seats in the Union – will be presented: every cultural form, every profession, every artistic craft, every art form finds its place here.
Each work represents a region, dialect or a local culture , a voice of Europe. This collage is made available to the European institutions.
In collaboration with schools and cultural institutions, participants are challenged to discover different languages, arts and crafts using local materials and digital skills.
A documentary movie with compilation of the work in progress of the panels, quilts, flags and canvasses will show “Voices, from all over Europe”, bringing together the strong traditions and innovation of the young generation of all the regions of Europe.
Short videos of artworks and performances will be recorded at various locations in the EU. These works will be compiled into the documentary “Voices, from all over Europe” which will be shown in (cultural) cinemas and online. A call for submissions will be issued later this year.
The Voices project is an initiative that is gaining increasing support and is growing thanks to the growing number of diverse submissions. The project explores the wide variety of cultural forms and expressions that Europe has to offer. As the collection grows, opportunities for exhibitions and publications are also being further developed.Participants will be kept up to date by communication on exhibitions, publications and screenings. The Cult Foundation will credit creators and participating organizations whenever reasonably possible in exhibitions, publications and screenings.
In cooperation with the Council of Europe and the Cultural Heritage in Action, Prizes and Praises will be given to selected submissions of outstanding creative and innovative quality.
This project is a statement that European cultural values can flourish together.
